Play Therapy For Children
Through Child-Centered Play Therapy, children ages 3–10 are supported in expressing their thoughts and feelings through play, their natural language. In a safe and nurturing environment, your child builds emotional awareness, confidence, and self-regulation skills. Sessions are tailored to your child’s unique needs and offered in person, while also supporting caregivers in understanding and responding to their child more effectively.
Therapy For Teens & Adults
For teens and adults, therapy is a space where you can show up exactly as you are—messy thoughts, big feelings, and all. Together, we’ll make sense of what’s going on, build stronger communication, and find ways to handle life that actually feel good (and realistic). Sessions are tailored to you, with both in-person and virtual options—because support should fit your life, not the other way around.
WELCOME!
I’m Kalyssa Matheson - Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
I founded Sapphire Psychotherapy and Counselling to offer a warm, supportive space to turn to when things feel messy, painful, and uncertain.
I strongly believe that you’re the expert of yourself and I’m here to support you in moving towards what feels right for YOU. I show up to sessions as a real, human person. That means using humour when it fits, bringing my personality into the room, and creating a space that feels genuine and down-to-earth—not distant or “blank slate.” I believe therapy works best when it feels like a real connection, where you can feel understood, supported, and comfortable being yourself.
Change doesn’t happen overnight - but with the right support, it does happen. My goal is to help individuals build insight, develop practical skills, and create meaningful shifts that extend beyond the therapy room into everyday life.
Outside of my practice, you’ll find me exploring with my dog, creating polymer clay magnets, or attempting to recreate a Starbucks drink in the comfort of my own kitchen.
